Lawrence is back!

It's rare to get a Rwandan coffee traceable back to one single farmer. Most washing stations blend cherry from hundreds, sometimes thousands, of smallholders sorted by the day it was picked rather than by farm. This one's different.

Grown across just 550 trees at Laurence Mukakabera's farm, Kinyonzo-Gihura, and processed at Ruli, the founding washing station of the Dukunde Kawa Co-Op in Rwanda's north. Laurence rebuilt her farm from nothing after the 1994 genocide, and today she's a leader within the co-op's women's alliance, teaching fellow members to weave baskets alongside growing some of the highest quality coffee in the region.

She, alongside her fellow members of the Rwanbagirakawa collective have worked extremely hard advocating for their right to sell their cherries independently. Not only receiving the recognition they deserve, but also the financial gains of growing coffee with care and a high attention to detail. Our reward? Unique and beautiful coffee to share.

"It's a dream come true to sell coffee with my name," she told our partners at MCM on their last visit to Rwanda. We feel pretty lucky to be sharing it too.
