Privacy

There are five things, and you choose two of them.

• Your email address, if you send us one. Through the contact form or a correction. We keep it so we can reply to you and so we can tell you when a correction has been made. It is not added to any list and it is not given to anyone.
• Your email address, if you sign up for updates. Used for that and nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• Anonymous usage counts. Which coffees get looked at and which Buy links get clicked, with no name attached and nothing that identifies you. It is how we know which parts of the site are worth the work.
• Visit statistics, through Google Analytics. How many people came, which pages were read, which site or search sent them, and the country and the kind of device. Google sets cookies so a return visit can be told from a new one.
• Whether one of our ads sent you. Everybean advertises on Google. A visit that starts from one of those ads arrives with a code Google adds to the link. That code is kept with the anonymous counts above, and Google keeps it in a cookie, so Google can report how many visits an ad led to. No advertising is shown on this site.

When you send a message through the contact form, your IP address is turned into a one-way hash and that hash is stored, not the address. It exists to stop one sender flooding the form. It cannot be turned back into an address, and it is never used to work out who you are or what you have read.

Google Analytics sets cookies so a return visit can be told from a new one. That is what counts visitors and pages. If one of our Google ads brought you here, Google sets one more, which holds the code from that ad. A browser that blocks trackers stops all of them, and the site works the same either way.

Separately, the site remembers where you had scrolled to in a list of beans so the back button returns you there, and how many pages you have read in this tab. Both are kept in your own browser and neither is sent to us.

Maps are drawn from OpenStreetMap, recipe videos are played from YouTube, and a few bag photos are loaded from the roaster’s own website. Each of those is a request from your browser to somebody else, who has a privacy policy of their own.

A Buy button goes through this site and then straight on to the roaster, adding a marker so the roaster can see the visit came from Everybean. We record that a click happened. We do not know what you bought, and the roaster’s own site has its own privacy policy once you are there.

Google, for the visit statistics and the ad code described above. Nobody else. Nothing is sold or rented, and nothing goes to data brokers. The site runs on ordinary hosting, database and email services that hold the data on our behalf and do nothing else with it.

The coffee information here is published business information, read from each roaster’s own public website. If you are a roaster and you want your listing changed or taken down, it is done on request, immediately, without an argument.

Ask, and everything we hold about you is deleted. You can also ask for a copy of it. Under Australian privacy law you have the right to both, and there is nothing to be gained here by making that difficult.

If this ever changes in a way that matters, the change will be described here rather than folded into the wording.

28 September 2026. Everybean advertises on Google, and this page used to say there was no advertising. It now says what is recorded when one of those ads brings somebody here, that Google sets a cookie when that happens, and that Google is the one other party that sees the visit statistics.
