Privacy
Everybean has no accounts, no logins and no tracking cookies. You can use the whole site without telling us anything about yourself, and most people do.
What we collect
There are only three things, and you choose two of them.
- Your email address, if you send us one. Through the contact form or a correction. We keep it so we can reply to you and so we can tell you when a correction has been made. It is not added to any list and it is not given to anyone.
- Your email address, if you sign up for updates. Used for that and nothing else. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Anonymous usage counts. Which coffees get looked at and which Buy links get clicked, with no name attached and nothing that identifies you. It is how we know which parts of the index are worth the work.
About your IP address
When you send a message through the contact form, your IP address is turned into a one-way hash and that hash is stored, not the address. It exists to stop one sender flooding the form. It cannot be turned back into an address, and it is never used to work out who you are or what you have read.
Cookies
None for tracking, and no advertising cookies. The site remembers where you had scrolled to on the index so the back button returns you there, and that is kept in your own browser and never sent to us.
Buy links
A Buy button goes through this site and then straight on to the roaster, adding a marker so the roaster can see the visit came from Everybean. We record that a click happened. We do not know what you bought, and the roaster’s own site has its own privacy policy once you are there.
Who else sees any of it
Nobody. Nothing is sold, rented or shared with advertisers or data brokers. The site runs on ordinary hosting and database services that hold the data on our behalf and do nothing else with it.
Roasters and their coffee
The coffee information here is published business information, read from each roaster’s own public website. If you are a roaster and you want your listing changed or taken down, it is done on request, immediately, without an argument.
Getting your details removed
Ask, and everything we hold about you is deleted. You can also ask for a copy of it. Under Australian privacy law you have the right to both, and there is nothing to be gained here by making that difficult.
Changes
If this ever changes in a way that matters, the change will be described here rather than folded into the wording.
