About Cheeky Devil Coffee Roasters

Cheeky Devil Coffee Roasters is taking a well-deserved break and won’t be attending the Salamanca Market on the 22nd and 29th of August. Online orders will continue as usual.

Cheeky Devil Coffee Roasters was founded by Clive and Robyn Aver in 2018, but their story and connection with coffee (and with Tasmania) began almost a decade earlier. We roast only in small batches because our mission is to deliver the highest-quality, freshest specialty coffee to your cup. And for every kilo of coffee sold, we donate $1 to the Save the Tasmanian Devil Program. We believe that the same way the Tassie Devils inspired us to create our brand, we should give back. That’s why we proudly say we roast coffee with bite and soul.

Clive and Robyn Aver moved to Hobart, Tasmania, for a welcome tree change in 2007. Hobart became their home, and shortly after their relocation, they happened to meet the Tassie Devils at Bonorong Nature Reserve. In fact, Clive saw a gamekeeper touch one of these “cute” creatures and thought he could do the same. It didn’t turn out very well for Clive as the devil was indeed a devil and used all of its speed and strength for an attack on the unsuspecting newbie!! Fortunately no damage was done. When they decided to start the business they wanted to support this endearing Tassie Icon, hence the name Cheeky Devil Coffee Roasters.

Our mission is to provide the best coffee experience possible, whilst maintaining ethical practices from farm to cup.

We roast our coffee beans weekly, always in small batches, ensuring consistency and freshness in every cup.

We work collaboratively with a small group of businesses in Tasmania and the mainland to showcase Cheeky Devil Coffee. These businesses share our values of small producers and ethical sourcing.

And every time you buy a bag of coffee from us, you are supporting a Tasmanian small business, meaning all profits stay in Australia. We strive to provide the service that we all expect but rarely receive.

This is the quintessential roastery tour, perfect for the coffee enthusiast who is eager to learn and understand more about the process of what goes on behind-the-scenes to make that perfect cup of coffee.

Come on a hands-on walk through of the Cheeky Devil Roasters. Understand the difference between traditional roasting vs. fluid bed air roasting and roast your own batch of coffee! Once roasting is complete, put your palate to the test and smell and taste your way through several blends and single origin coffees, during our coffee cupping session.

A unique experience to see behind-the-scenes of a specialty coffee roaster and what it takes to achieve the perfect coffee.

We roast our coffee weekly on Thursdays, and each coffee variety is treated uniquely. We endeavour to retain and accentuate the flavours of that particular crop, giving you a more exciting, varied coffee experience. Our roasts include blended coffee , single-origin coffee , and decaffeinated coffee as well. Plus, for those who are not coffee drinkers, we also have a delicious and smooth drinking chocolate .

We import green coffee beans from different countries, including Brazil, Colombia, and Ethiopia. Once in the roastery, the green beans undergo a destoning process to ensure that any debris or unwanted objects are removed before roasting. Every step of the process is done by Clive, including packing and sealing the coffee bags. It’s all made with love and care.
