Gesha coffee from Australian roasters

114 beans from 61 Australian roasters. The most common roasts are light, medium light and medium. The beans come mainly from Colombia, Peru, Panama and Costa Rica. The roasters describe these beans most often as floral, citrus, stone fruit and caramel & sweet.

Gesha, also spelled Geisha, is an arabica variety collected from the forest around Gesha in south-western Ethiopia in the 1930s and made famous in Panama, where a lot from Hacienda La Esmeralda won Best of Panama in 2004. It tastes of jasmine, bergamot and stone fruit and is closer to tea than most coffee. The trees yield little and want altitude, which is why a Gesha is nearly always the dearest coffee on a roaster's shelf.
