What Commonfolk Coffee say

Our third purchase from Nesru Aba Nura, completing a NES trilogy. Traditionally the third in a franchise isn’t always the best, if they come at all. Yeah, we’re looking at you Valve, but we can safely say we still love this coffee. We’ve got more DLC this year from the Osito and Ethiopia connection, purchasing more than ever.

Nesru’s farm spans 9 hectares in Kota Kebele, nearly 2000 metres above sea level. Farming two JARC cultivars, selected for both resilience and quality. Washed processing is a relatively new thing to Nesru and the rest of the Tokuma group. Historically due to Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX), blending lots to auction in larger volumes to exporters. Farmers saw no need to put any extra effort into processing as they were not directly attributed for their coffee or allowed to export themselves. With laws relaxing over the last few years, even small to medium producers can process micro lot sized coffees and get to export without blurred lines. With these laws changing the Tokomu group has now started investing into the infrastructure needed to produce washed coffee. We’re very glad for it.

This washed lot speaks to clean fermentation and soaking, with great clarity and notes of blackcurrant like the perfect FOV settings, and poached pear acidity to get your head in the game. But with a cup of black tea with sugar in it so as to not ruin your immersion. With three years of purchasing down, let’s hope towards a more Call of Duty style of release (almost yearly) than a Half-Life one (number three when Gabe WHEN). Thanks so much to Osito for importing this coffee and connecting us with the small holder producers of Ethiopia.

But it is delicious. In classic CF form, a D21 Y47 T27 is pretty yum. Tasting notes are spot on, huge black currant, poached pear and black tea vibes. If you're down with the tea, I'd definitely suggest pushing the yield for that tea-like texture and sweetness. - Alisha
