Down the long, winding, bumpy roads of Yirgacheffe, sits Worka Nenke washing station. Coffee from the surrounding area is grown in the backyards of smallholder farmers who contribute to the station, a style described as “garden coffee”.

This lot has the traditional profile you'd expect from Yirgacheffe, with black tea and florals while its structure and sweetness make the cup especially pleasing. That quality reflects the meticulous way the coffee is handled, from cherry picking through to processing and drying.

Ripe cherries are washed and floated to separate out defects before being pulped and fermented in water for 24 hours. The coffee is then cleaned at the washing station to remove the remaining mucilage before being placed on raised beds to dry for 14 days.
