What Lottie Lane Coffee Roasters say

Delicate and floral with strawberry, raspberry and jasmine.

This washed lot comes from the Chelchele washing station, located in the village of Chelchele within the Kochere district of Ethiopia’s renowned Yirgacheffe region. Coffees from this area are celebrated for their remarkable clarity, floral complexity, and refined sweetness — characteristics that have made Yirgacheffe one of the world’s most iconic coffee origins.

Grown by hundreds of smallholder farmers at elevations reaching up to 2,400 metres above sea level, the coffee cherries are carefully delivered to the Chelchele washing station throughout harvest. Here, the cherries are meticulously sorted, washed, and dried on raised beds, a process that enhances the coffee’s vibrant acidity, delicate florals, and layered fruit character.

In the cup, this Special Prep lot offers bright notes of strawberry and raspberry, complemented by elegant floral aromatics and a soft underlying sweetness reminiscent of toffee and almond. The result is a clean, expressive, and beautifully balanced coffee with a silky mouthfeel and lingering sweetness.

Most farmers in this region cultivate coffee organically by default, typically without access to synthetic fertilisers or pesticides. Combined with traditional farming methods and the exceptional terroir of Yirgacheffe, this coffee represents the purity, complexity, and timeless appeal of Ethiopian specialty coffee.
