Ransom Specialty Coffee

In 2013, Kirby and Sarah founded Ransom Coffee Roasters , bringing world-class coffee roasting to Far North Queensland, Australia. Their unwavering commitment to quality quickly set a new benchmark in the specialty coffee scene.

This dedication was recognised nationally when Ransom won seven bronze medals at the 2019 Golden Bean Coffee Roasters Competition across three categories: Certified Organic, Milk-Based, and Espresso.

Ransom is now led by James Duan , a passionate coffee enthusiast with a diverse background in the coffee world. James' journey began at a New Zealand coffee roastery, where he first fell in love with the craft.

Driven by a spirit of adventure, he traveled the globe, balancing mountain biking in the summer with snowboarding in the winter. Along the way, he honed his skills as a barista in Whistler, a roaster in Wellington, and later managed coffee sales and venues in Melbourne. James brings this rich blend of global experience and expertise to Ransom, continuing the legacy of exceptional coffee.
