ABOUT
Grandpa Doc and Erwin II were driving back from the farm when they noticed a man on the side of the road selling fruit. They stopped to buy some and noticed that the man was carrying a bag labeled “Java.” He claimed it contained seeds from a rare variety called Java. Erwin II was skeptical, to say the least. Doc, however, felt sorry for the man and decided to buy the seeds.
As it turned out, the man was telling the truth. The seeds were from the Longberry Java variety. They believe the man may have worked at a coffee nursery that once conducted research in the area. This encounter marked the beginning of Java in Nicaragua, later known as “Javanica.”
Javanica has a truly unique origin story and an equally distinctive flavour. This coffee is one of the original varieties from Ethiopia, and the Mierisch family discovered it by chance on the side of the road. It is celebrated for its wild and intricate character.
