This is one of our favourite stories from Zukuka Bora. A story that showcases how it works, who makes it work and why it matters. Many people. Many hands. One coffee.

On Mount Elgon, there are over 1,100 smallholder producers that provide cherry to this coffee, up to 100 people are employed by Zukuka Bora during harvest. All this alongside drivers and day workers. Plus site managers and administration staff year round. These jobs simply did not exist 10 years ago.

On this end, four idiots started Commonfolk, 13 years later, that's grown into one roastery, two cafes and an importing business that share around 80 employees. Through that importing business, 15 other Australian roasters, and even one in Japan now pour Zukua Bora too, meaning each year, thousands of people get to drink and enjoy this very lot. Sometimes singled out on its own, and sometimes in a blend with many more helping hands involved. But always a firm favourite among you punters.

Furthermore, The Cup That Counts has donated over $262,000 towards infrastructure, equipment, and training to ensure Zukuka Bora continues to expand their impact and contributes to the economic development of the Mt. Elgon region.
