About Nolabel Coffee

It started with a question nobody in Australian coffee was asking: what if you just... flew to the farm?

Not to take photos for Instagram. Not to tick a box on a sustainability report. But to sit with the farmers, drink their coffee, and figure out whether something real could be built together.

That trip — to a small island in the middle of the Pacific, reachable by a domestic puddle-jumper from Port Vila — turned into several trips. And those trips turned into No Label Coffee.

Tanna Island sits just 17° south of the equator in Vanuatu. It is home to Mount Yasur — one of the world's most active and most accessible volcanoes, erupting daily for over 800 years — and to some of the most extraordinary coffee-growing soil on Earth.

When a volcano erupts, it doesn't just make headlines — it deposits minerals. Over centuries, Tanna's volcanic ash has built up into some of the most nutrient-dense agricultural soil in the Pacific. Coffee plants that grow in this environment develop flavour compounds you simply don't find in standard farm soil.

The farms sit at altitude on the slopes surrounding Mount Yasur. Small shareholder plots — typically one to four hectares — tended by farming families who have worked the land for generations. The harvest is hand-picked. The processing is careful. And the result is a cup that carries the character of the place it came from.

The conventional coffee supply chain has a lot of labels — importer, exporter, broker, distributor. Each one adds cost, distance, and a layer of opacity between the person growing the coffee and the person drinking it.

We stripped those out. No Label is about a direct relationship: the farming co-operative on Tanna, and us. The farmers know exactly where their coffee goes. We know exactly who grew it. And you know exactly where your money ends up — back in the community that earned it.

It also means no greenwashing. No vague ethically sourced language. No fair-trade certification used as a substitute for an actual relationship. Just a genuine, transparent supply chain built on the quality of the product and the trust of the people behind it.

We are committed to the well-being of everyone we work with — from the farmers and the communities they live in, to our team and communities here in Australia.

The beans travel from Tanna Island to our roasting facility in Mona Vale, Sydney — where they're roasted in small batches to highlight the natural character of the origin, not mask it.

We've kept things deliberately focused. One origin. One relationship. One goal: to make sure the person who grew your coffee got a fair outcome, and that the coffee itself is genuinely worth drinking.
