What Numero Uno Coffee Roasters say

AUSTRALIA GROWS ITS OWN

Grown on the red volcanic soils of Far North Queensland, at elevations that rival the world's finest arabica regions. For over 40 years, Skybury has been quietly building something remarkable; Australian coffee that holds its own on the world stage.

The MacLaughlin family arrived in Australia as South African migrants, famously touring the country by motorbike in search of the right place to put down roots. When Ian and Marion found the property near Mareeba in 1987, it was the view and the climate that made them fall in love, not a grand plan to conquer the coffee world. What began as a small farm driven by a connection to land has grown into Australia's oldest commercial coffee plantation, with more than 90,000 coffee trees flourishing under Queensland's tropical sun. Today, Ian and Marion's daughter Candy, who learned to drive a tractor before a car, hauling coffee alongside her family as a kid serves as General Manager, while her brother Mark, an agronomist, oversees plant breeding, field trials and production. Three generations of MacLaughlins now live and work on the farm, guided by the same principle that shaped it from the start: farming not just for today, but for tomorrow. LinkedIn + 4

WHY BUYING LOCAL MATTERS

Backing growers like Skybury is more than a feel good choice.

→ Regional jobs. Every bag keeps Australian farming communities thriving.

→ Full traceability. You know exactly where it came from and how it was grown.

→ Specialty stays viable. Small producers need support to stay in the game.

→ A supply chain you can see. Farm to cup, end to end.

→ A smaller footprint. As a roaster, we source coffee from origins all over the world. Ethiopia, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala. Every one of those beans travels thousands of kilometres before it reaches your cup. Skybury changes that equation. Grown and harvested in Far North Queensland, roasted right here in Australia, it's the shortest supply chain we've ever worked with and that matters. Less freight. Less emissions. More of your money staying in the country. Choosing local isn't just good values. It's good sense.
