Grown in Far North Queensland and roasted fresh in South Australia, Jack Murat - Mareeba delivers everything you want from an everyday coffee - chocolate richness, brown sugar sweetness and creamy nutty depth, finished with a soft citrus lift.

Produced by the Murat family in Mareeba on Queensland’s Atherton Tablelands, this coffee is a rare example of Australian-grown specialty coffee. The farm was originally established by

Hymet “Jack” Murat, who immigrated from Albania to Australia in 1929 in search of opportunity.

After decades of farming sugar cane, corn and tobacco, the family transformed the property into a specialty coffee farm in 2014.

Today, the estate is run by Hymet’s sons and grandsons, continuing a family legacy built on persistence, experimentation and craftsmanship. The farm grows Red and Yellow Catuai varieties originally sourced from Costa Rica as part of an Australian government initiative exploring coffee cultivation in tropical regions.

Mareeba’s unique high-latitude climate, warm days and cool tropical nights help slow cherry development and build sweetness and balance in the cup. Combined with the region’s sand and clay loam soils, the result is a clean, approachable coffee designed for everyday drinking -

Designed for espresso and milk coffee. Best enjoyed as a flat white, latte, cappuccino or balanced espresso with a rich mouthfeel and low acidity.

Recommended espresso recipe: 22g in, 43g out, around 28–32 seconds. A slightly tighter yield helps emphasise sweetness, body and creamy texture while keeping acidity soft and balanced.
