What Offshoot Coffee say
Crafted for those who like their coffee with a bit of muscle, the Hercules Blend is a bold and robust cup that doesn’t hold back. Sourced from the lush, mountainous regions of Papua New Guinea, this darkly roasted blend is crafted with expert precision to showcase its deep, complex character while maintaining a beautifully sweet, lingering finish. In the cup, you’ll find rich layers of toffee, roasted hazelnuts, and a velvety dark chocolate backbone that keeps you coming back for more. It's strength with sophistication—a powerful brew with an elegant edge. Perfect for mornings that need a little extra kick or slow afternoons that call for a comforting cup, Hercules is your trusty companion in coffee form.
The Hercules Blend is bold, rich, and full-bodied, with layers of toffee, hazelnut, and dark chocolate, rounded off by a sweet, lingering finish. But its real power lies in where it comes from.
Grown in the remote Eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, this coffee is shaped by a wild, dramatic landscape. Towering peaks of the Kratke and Bismarck Ranges, flowing rivers like the Asaro and Lamari, and lush rainforest valleys create a rich, fertile ecosystem ideal for producing high-quality coffee. In the isolated villages of Lufa and Okapa, smallholder farmers grow coffee among their food crops—often just 20 trees at a time. With little access to infrastructure or quality equipment, these farmers have long been cut off from the specialty market.
Enter Maureen Ken, founder of Lass Malo Coffee (LMC). Since 2015, Maureen has worked to change that by providing rural producers with access to quality-focused training, equipment, and transport. LMC purchases cherries directly, supports careful hand-sorting, fermentation, and drying, and operates a growing dry mill facility in Goroka. This support not only improves cup quality and consistency, but also ensures farmers earn better prices for their work.
The Hercules Blend is a testament to the resilience of these farming communities and the vision of people like Maureen. Every cup supports a better future for the region—and delivers a taste of the highlands’ incredible potential.
