What Commonfolk Coffee say

For around 5 years, Ositio has partnered with the community known as Divino Niño. In the Suaza sub region of Huila, more than 50 producers combine forces to create a community. This communal lot is made up of washed coffee that doesn’t make the cut for micro lots, or might be grown at a lower elevation or potentially surplus coffee remaining after filling individual contracts.

Ositio understands the needs roasters have when building blends, coffee of a high quality that they can use to add complexity and something dynamic. This way the producers can sell their parchment to Osito, rather than try to find a buyer, often in the internal market and for much less than the market. The coffee must meet certain quality criteria before being accepted into Divino Niño, but not to worry all levels of quality have a place in some other community lots Osito creates.

A competition called Copa Suaceña is a local version of the Cup of Excellence, designed to create some competition and help uncover the best coffees and emerging micro lots and their producers. This year we have flavour notes of chocolate orange, tart key lime and creamy butterscotch. Divino Niño plays a pivotal role in Progress but is so great, you should definitely try it on its own.

Our favourite washed Colombian blender Divino Niño is back again for its time in the sun. It's been in Proggy for the last lil bit but it's ready to fly solo. If you want more bright, key lime pie vibes use the first recipe, use the second for the chocolate orange experience™ - Aidan 18/06
