What Micrology Coffee Roasters say

Los Ídolos comes from San Agustín, a small farming community with a huge archaeological backstory. The area is home to a 116-hectare UNESCO World Heritage site filled with ancient monolithic sculptures known as “ídolos”, which gave this coffee its name. Caravela began working with local producers in 2006, later opening a buying station in San Agustín so farmers could deliver coffee closer to home and access more hands-on support. Most contributing farms average just three hectares and many are run by second or third-generation coffee growers. Alongside coffee, producers often grow sugar cane for panela or avocados, making these small farms busy, diverse and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.
