What Motobean Roasters say

A vibrant, fruit‑forward natural espresso sourced from the highlands of Guji and crafted through generations of resilience, innovation and dedication to Ethiopian coffee.

The Story: From Legacy to Reinvention

Before 1974, Alemayehu (Gizaw’s father) produced exceptional coffees from his privately owned farms in the Yirgacheffe region. When the socialist government nationalised his land, the family’s future in farming was abruptly taken away.

Scarred by the experience, a young Gizaw chose a different path — not farming, but coffee processing. Together with his wife, Frehiwot, he rebuilt the family legacy through modern processing, quality‑driven systems and a commitment to elevating the coffees of local smallholders.

Today, cherries from Dimtu, Harosema village are handpicked, sorted and delivered to Gizaw’s washing station, where meticulous natural processing brings out the expressive character Guji is known for.

- Handpicked cherries delivered from Dimtu, Harosema

- Density‑channel sorting to separate grades

- Shaded drying between 12–3 p.m. to protect fruit integrity

- Frequent turning for even moisture distribution

- 20–28 days on African raised beds until reaching 11.5% moisture

This slow, controlled natural process produces a cup that is bright, tropical and beautifully structured.

- Ripe Peach

- Tropical fruit

- Caramel

A lively, expressive espresso with clarity, sweetness and a long, satisfying finish.
