What Sipping Duck Coffee Roasters say
Our decaf coffee is often recognised as one of the best available, offering the full flavour of specialty coffee without the caffeine. This blend produces a rich, smooth cup with distinct notes of burnt toffee and nuts.
The coffee is decaffeinated using the Swiss Water® Process, a chemical-free method that removes 99.9% of caffeine while preserving the coffee’s natural flavour and character.
A reliable option for those who want high-quality decaf coffee beans with full flavour, suitable for drinking any time of day or night.
Established in 2014, this blend was created to meet the specific demand of a niche audience who wanted to enjoy truly great coffee without the jitters. While decaf is often seen as a compromise, we committed to supplying a product that delivers a close rich, complex flavour to our caffeinated blends. The overwhelming positive feedback (we’ve heard countless times that this is the best decaf available) confirms our decision to use only the highest-quality, chemical-free processing methods.
This blend features specialty-grade Brazilian beans that undergo the Swiss Water Process . The SWP is a 100% chemical-free method of removing caffeine, relying solely on water, temperature, and time to preserve the coffee's original characteristics.
Soaking & Extraction: Green coffee beans are soaked in purified water to remove the caffeine molecules.
Filtering: The water, now saturated with caffeine and flavour compounds, is passed through an activated charcoal filter that traps 99.9% of the caffeine .
Flavour Retention: Because the water is already saturated with the coffee's flavour compounds (called the Green Coffee Extract or GCE), when a new batch of beans is introduced, only the caffeine leaves the bean; the flavour compounds remain intact.
This meticulous process ensures the rich cup, smooth texture, and defined notes of burnt toffee and nuts.
This Medium Roast is calibrated to maximise the soluble compounds left after the Swiss Water Process, achieving its superb espresso performance. By targeting a profile that enhances the natural toffee and nut notes of the Brazilian origin, the decaf maintains a low acidity and medium body . The result is a widely-loved, crowd-pleasing decaf that tastes exactly like a great cup of coffee.
