What Bun Coffee say
This exceptional microlot coffee from Miguel Castillo is exclusive to Bun Coffee.
Apricot, panela, apple, raspberry, pomegranate, peach, cocoa and sugarcane
Miguel Castillo cultivates coffee at Finca Panamá in Malacatos, Loja, on land historically associated with cascarilla trade routes in southern Ecuador. At 1,650 masl, around 2.5 hectares are produced under shade from guabo, citrus, and native wilco trees that support soil stability in a warmer valley climate.
Sprinkler irrigation during extended dry periods maintains younger Typica trees during irregular rainfall. This lot follows a Washed process, with cherries fermented after harvesting before being transported for drying — a logistical adaptation to the farm's current infrastructure. Typica in Malacatos expresses its heritage cleanly through a process that keeps the focus on variety and place.
