What Market Lane Coffee say
This coffee has notes of mandarin and almond with a milk chocolate sweetness.
As one of Brazil’s most celebrated coffee producers, Antônio Rigno has played a pivotal role in elevating the same of his hometown of Piatã among the international coffee community. Even after 40 years of coffee production, 77-year-old Antônio continues to spend every day at São Judas with his wife Terezinha (who is 80 herself) by his side. Antônio mages the farming and processing while Terezinha oversees administration and runs their cafe in town, where her pastries are much-loved.
The pair are deeply respected in their community, admired for their extensive coffee knowledge and generous mentorship of other farmers. As Antônio explained, “There are no secrets. Here, the people in Piatã are like my family. I want to help them produce great coffee. It’s my duty and my joy.”
At 77 and 80 years of age, Antônio and Terezinha still spend every day at São Judas.
Antônio and Terezinha Rigno have played a pivotal role in Piatã’s coffee industry.
The pair never compromises on their commitment to sustainable farming, or their care for the natural forest that covers much of the property.
The farm is part of Bahia’s Chapada Diamantina (“Diamond Plateau”) region.
