What myCuppa say
Flavor : Deep and rich notes of sweet tasting yellow nectarine and orange marmalade with a buttery finish.
We love drinking this coffee in any alternative brew application.
A few of our team members are espresso-only enthusiasts and they just adore using this Ethiopian filter style roast as their daily cup (which takes a bit of adjusting to extract on espresso duty).
Lighter roast levels result in the natural fruit elements intensifying.
It's important to expertly develop the bean during the roast without introducing roast notes so that all sourness or grassy notes are eliminated.
Filter coffee is the best way to enjoy the clarity and original characteristics developed by brewing the coffee with a clean extraction of the coffee oils.
Our Filter Roast is prepared on a specialized hand-roasted smaller platform - dedicated to precise filter roasting.
It will deliver a beautiful flavor, having a delicate acid balance without excessive citric or malic astringency.
Guide - For espresso this coffee will take some adjustment to dial in as it's a fully natural grade 1 that has been light roasted. Start coarse as the coffee blooms and swells far more than others which could lead to the shot choking.
Alternative brewers, this coffee is ideal and highly adaptable.
Ethiopia Filter‑Roast Coffee Beans – Yirgacheffe Natural
Experience the elegance of Ethiopia Yirgacheffe coffee , crafted as a natural process filter roast with a precise roast profile. This lighter roast highlights vibrant candied citrus acidity , with notes of yellow nectarine, orange marmalade, and delicate fruit sweetness that linger beautifully in the finish.
Single‑origin Yirgacheffe : Famous for its floral, citrus, and fruit complexity.
Light roast profile : Designed for clarity, brightness, and clean extractions.
Perfect for alternative brewing : Ideal for Aeropress, V60 pour over, Syphon, Moccamaster, and Cold Drip .
Exceptional flavor balance : Sweet citrus acidity paired with smooth fruit depth.
Crafted for enthusiasts : With a quality grinder and espresso machine, skilled baristas can unlock extraordinary espresso extractions.
Filter‑style roasting is gentler, especially in the drying phase, and carefully managed around first crack to preserve delicate aromatics. Unlike medium or espresso roasts, filter roasts are lighter in color, higher in acidity, and emphasize clarity over body.
In milk : Filter roasts may taste lighter and less rich, with acidity sometimes reacting to dairy alternatives.
For black brews : They shine with vibrant fruit notes and sparkling acidity.
For espresso experts : With precise grind and dose control, filter roasts reward with sweet, complex shots.
Our roasting team has refined this style to reduce the frustrations often associated with lighter roasts. The result is a clean, sweet, and balanced cup that showcases the best of Ethiopian terroir.
If you prefer milk‑based beverages, we recommend exploring our medium‑roast Ethiopian coffees for fuller body and smoother balance.
This new fully washed lot arrived in July 2026 and is different to the previous washed process Ethiopian Filter Roast.
