What myCuppa say
Flavor : Red cherry, caramelised sugar with a dark chocolate finish
When we started our coffee journey all those years ago, Guatemala produced excellent lots from both Huehuetenango and Antigua.
Historically, Antigua was known as the flavour powerhouse due to the bold cups of rich, dark chocolate.
However, as time passed, Antigua's coffee trees aged and were not renewed with hardier varietals, especially since Roya (Coffee Leaf rust) outbreaks continue.
Guatemala suffers from a relatively poor economy; there is considerable poverty, and in some cases, farmers don't have sufficient resources or funds to tend to their crops after the harvest.
Huehuetenango has continued to go from strength to strength, and today is the primary growing region in Guatemala.
We have always preferred Huehue's over Antiguas, and this lot is from a superb and trusted farm we have sourced each year since 2015.
A great Huehue will produce exceptional sweetness and one of the cleanest cups from any origin/country.
High levels of flavour combine with balanced acids to deliver exceptional complexity that works a treat in milk-based espresso beverages.
Guide - Guats can sometimes choke in the grinder as they are small and dense, so watch out for the flow rates to avoid over-extracting the brew.
Plenty of rich dark chocolate notes with that perfectly matched ripe red cherry contrast.
This is one of our most popular and best-selling coffees, and for good reason.
Our Guatemalan coffee beans are known for their strong, bold flavour profile, incredible sweetness, and fine, bright acidity.
We fresh-roast these 100% Arabica beans to a perfect medium roast every single day, so you can be sure you're receiving the freshest coffee, which is flying out the door.
Beans: 100% Whole Beans, or we can grind on-demand to suit your order (Please note, we do not hold or store any ground coffees. All orders are treated as a custom item and ground specifically for your order).
Its bold body and sweet finish make it an excellent choice for milk-based espresso . It also shines as a bright, juicy cup when prepared with filter, percolator, or plunger (French Press) styles.
Guatemalan coffee is highly regarded worldwide for its exquisite flavour and subtle nuances. These beans are grown in a perfect microclimate in the Huehuetenango region—at high altitude, in rich volcanic soils, and with ideal weather conditions of warm days and cool nights.
This is the secret to its fantastic, balanced, and complex taste.
