What Sow Coffee Project say
Our sourcing partner for this coffee, Cata Export, aims to help publicise small Colombian coffee producers who don’t yet have the support to market their own coffees.
This particular coffee - named “Chocoloco” by Cata - is a blend of coffees from three small farms: Los Nogales, Los Naranjas and Mi Fortuna. Cata has been sharing knowledge with these producers across many topics, including: soil, clean agriculture, mill maintenance, water treatment, tanks, fermentation in bags, physical and sensory advice. This is to ensure the coffees are up to standard; only when this is verified are the coffees sent to the mill.
Chocoloco originated from a surprising observation made during the milling process: certain natural sublots displayed exceptional chocolate sweetness and vibrant fruit notes. CATA's quality team identified an opportunity, carefully selecting and blending these lots, creating Chocoloco!
Chocoloco boasts a bright yet unpretentious profile, reflective of the hard-working friendly community that produced it. Each edition has remained true to its heart: sweet, chocolate-driven flavours balanced by fruity surprises. This newest crop is complex, with notes of Pineapple, Turkish Delight, and milk chocolate.
