What Motobean Roasters say
Peak Ripeness: The Secret of Santa Rosa
Produced in the prestigious highlands of Santa Rosa, Guatemala El Boquerón is a showcase of patience, precision and terroir. The 250 smallholder farmers behind this lot follow a rare discipline: they only harvest between December and February, ensuring every Caturra cherry is picked at absolute peak ripeness. This results in exceptional sugar concentration and flavour purity rarely achieved in standard harvests.
This is specialty espresso coffee built for clarity, sweetness and fruit‑forward intensity.
Espresso Flavour Profile: Tropical Fruit, Cherry & Strawberry
A long‑time favourite in our lineup, El Boquerón is a masterclass in natural processing. Roasted to a Medium level for espresso, it balances explosive fruit clarity with a deep, syrupy body.
- Palate: Mind‑blowing tropical fruit and ripe cherry
- Sweetness: Jammy strawberry that dominates the cup
- Body: Full, syrupy and heavy — perfect in milk
- Character: A vibrant “fruit‑bomb” espresso with exceptional clarity thanks to high‑altitude terroir and meticulous drying
The Natural Process: Sun‑Drenched Sweetness
While Guatemala is traditionally known for washed coffees, El Boquerón thrives as a Natural.
- Hand‑Sorted Precision: Only the deepest red cherries are selected
- Slow Drying: Sun‑dried with the fruit intact for maximum sugar absorption
- High‑Altitude Terroir: At 1900 MASL, cool nights and volcanic soil create refined acidity and dense sweetness
