What Josie Coffee say
Foundation is, for a lot of people, the coffee they know us by.
This blend is built to be approachable, sweet and consistent. Foundation is here to do the thing most people want from their daily coffee: taste good, work well with milk and hold up as straight espresso.
The blend is currently made up of two washed process coffees. The first is Baroida Estate from Papua New Guinea, sourced through Sucafina. Baroida is one of Sucafina’s long-term PNG projects and a coffee we’re always happy to see on the offer list. It brings sweetness, body and a clean, steady structure to the blend.
The second component is La Orquídea from Tolima, Colombia, also sourced through Sucafina. This coffee comes from Asoprocafees, a producer association in Planadas focused on better quality, better prices and more support for its members. In the cup it helps round the blend out with soft fruit, chocolate and a familiar Colombian balance.
Together, these coffees give Foundation its shape: sticky sweetness, chocolate depth and a soft malty finish. It is the coffee we recommend when someone wants a dependable house blend that still has proper sourcing, proper roasting and proper green coffee in it.
Foundation is where we began and, in a lot of ways, still our underlying principle. Buy excellent coffee, roast it well and make something people are happy to drink every day.
