KIMEL COFFEE ESTATE

Location:

Kimel Coffee Estate is located in the fertile Waghi Valley in the western Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea.

The estate is about 50 km south of Mount Hagen near a small town called Banz.

1550 mts above sea level.

Soil type:

Sandy Loam

The Kimel coffee grown is High Grown Mild Arabica of the Jamaican Blue mountain typica variety with around 10% of Catimor.

Kimel Coffee is grown under shade, they are Eucalyptus, Casurinia, Silver Oak.

The washed Arabica coffee is processed using a Wet Processing Method.

The estate follows an unique process of "fermentation for four days followed by intermittent washing on each day" so as to ensure that the entire mucilage is removed & the parchment is pebble clean.

Washing is followed by "underwater soaking" for 24 hrs.

Drying is done under natural sunlight

After drying the parchment is "conditioned" for 21 days before hulling, sorting, grading and bagging follows the hulling.
