What Offshoot Coffee say

About the Producer

Kainamui Factory serves approximately 1,800 smallholder farmers who are members of the New Ngariama Farmers Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga, Kenya. Around 600 of these members are women, with most producers managing small farms averaging less than half a hectare in size.

Coffee is the primary crop for many of these families, often grown alongside tea, bananas, maize, eucalyptus and macadamia. The cooperative supports members through agronomy training, field visits and financial assistance programs, helping farmers invest in both quality improvements and long-term sustainability.

Together, these producers contribute to the distinctive coffee profile that has made Kirinyaga one of Kenya's most respected coffee-growing regions.

About the Lot

Like many of Kenya's finest coffees, this lot follows a traditional washed process that places clarity and structure at the forefront of the cup.

Ripe cherries are delivered to the factory and depulped on the same day they are harvested. The coffee then undergoes 24-48 hours of fermentation before being thoroughly washed through water channels. A distinctive feature of Kenyan processing follows, with the coffee being soaked underwater for 12-72 hours, a step believed to contribute to the remarkable clarity and complexity found in many Kenyan coffees. The parchment is then dried slowly on African raised beds until it reaches its ideal moisture content.

The result is a vibrant and expressive cup showcasing bright Raspberry Cola acidity, juicy Red Grape sweetness and a lingering Sugarcane finish. It is everything we look for in a classic Kenyan coffee, fruit-forward, structured and wonderfully clean.

A timeless expression of Kirinyaga, showcasing why Kenyan coffee remains one of the world's benchmarks for quality.
