Coffee Information
About the Producer
Plan del Hoyo is managed by Francisco R.R. de Sola and Susana de Sola, whose family history with the land dates back to 1957. Originally used for cattle and other crops, the farm has undergone multiple transformations over the decades, shaped by both environmental challenges and changing visions for the land.
It was only in recent years that coffee became the central focus, and since then, their dedication to improving both quality and production has been widely recognised, including strong results at Cup of Excellence competitions.
Their philosophy is simple but powerful. Quality and production are two separate pursuits, and both deserve equal attention and constant improvement.
About the Lot
This washed Geisha lot follows a classic but carefully executed process. As shown on the card, ripe cherries are hand picked and sorted, with floaters removed before pulping. The coffee then undergoes around 16 hours of fermentation in jute sacks, before being fully washed and dried on brick patios for approximately 16 days.
This controlled and steady drying approach helps preserve clarity while allowing the natural sweetness of the coffee to develop.
In the cup, this translates to a beautifully clean and expressive profile. Expect crisp red apple, bright tangelo citrus and soft yellow peach sweetness, all carried by a refined structure and elegant finish.
A fresh origin, a rich history, and a beautifully composed cup.
