What Rumble Coffee Roasters say
Bright grapefruit and juicy cherry meet floral lychee sweetness in a vibrant, beautifully structured cup.
Karimikui Factory is one of three wet mills belonging to the renowned Rungeto Farmers' Co-operative Society in Kenya's Kirinyaga region. Around 1,400 local producers deliver ripe cherries here each harvest, contributing to coffees celebrated for their remarkable clarity and complexity. This is our first year buying from Karimikui, drawn to the co-operative's meticulous quality standards, long-standing reputation and commitment to producing coffees that truly express the distinctive character of central Kenya.
Every lot begins with carefully hand-selected cherries before moving through a traditional washed process that prioritises precision at every stage. After pulping, the coffee is fermented overnight, washed with fresh water, graded by density and dried slowly on raised beds for up to two weeks. Alongside exceptional processing, Rungeto continues investing in sustainability through water recycling systems and upgraded fermentation infrastructure, ensuring both coffee quality and environmental stewardship continue to improve with every harvest.
For this coffee we paid 24% above the Fair Trade price. To learn more about our Transparency Project, and why we publish what we pay for every Rumble Coffee, take a look at our Kenya Karimikui Transparency Report
