What Mad About Beans say

Dried apple, bakers chocolate, grapefruit and toffee. Smooth and balanced body with a lingering, slightly sweet finish.

A good allrounder. Perfect in the morning, at lunch and in the evening.

Being the third coffee in our collection, we wanted something deep and special. And why not pick a word important in psychology and a word that does not exist as such in English? Schadenfreude, according to Wikipedia means the experience of pleasure, joy, or self-satisfaction that comes from the first-hand or second-hand learning of the troubles, failures, pain, suffering, or humiliation of another. and apparently Schadenfreude has been detected in children as young as 24 months and may be an important social emotion establishing "inequity aversion" - something to think about....

But end of the day we just love the taste of our Schadenfreude and hope you will as well, no matter if you feel a bit of Schadenfreude or not!

Located in Northern Nicaragua, the San Juan del Rio Coco department offers an array of mountainous terrain ideal for growing coffee. The region is home to numerous mountain chains with peaks reaching over 1700 metres above sea level, and its rivers eventually merge to form the Segovia River — a valuable water source for the area.

The PROCAFE cooperative was founded in May 2011 with just 32 associates and has since grown to include 165 colleagues — a diverse team of 56 women and 109 men — all working together to ensure the smooth running of the cooperative. Their goal is to empower small-scale farmers and offer them more choices in marketing their produce and reaching global markets.

The Café de San Juan coffee beans grow at altitudes ranging from 1300 to 2100 masl. The cooperative processes their beans using the wet method followed by patio drying, and actively promotes sustainable practices including shade-grown coffee, crop diversification and environmental conservation.
