A rare coffee in our offerings: natural process, Gesha, from El Salvador. Even though it’s grown at a low altitude (1300 masl), this lot’s clarity comes through in full expression! Variety: Gesha Process: natural Flavour: jelly bean, peach, mango Body: Acidity: Roast: Omni (filter + espresso) Origin story and details Producer: José Angelino Landaverde Farm / Cooperative: Finca El Cedro Region: La Palma, El Salvador Altitude: 1274m above sea level Very Special Three distinct reasons put Angelino’s coffee directly into our VS shelf: It’s hard to come across high-quality coffees from El Salvador . The country’s politics during the last century have been full of instability, hence affecting the agricultural economy, global exports and incentives for farmers to keep producing coffee. Plus, their mountains are generally lower in altitude than, say, Colombia or Peru, directly impacting the general flavour potential. It’s Gesha . Say no more. It’s a natural process . A rare sight on our cupping table! We have a soft spot for the refined notes of washed methods, and we’ll only buy naturals if they present great flavours without too much craziness and over-fermented notes. Notes from Caravela (the importer) Angelino’s journey in coffee began with his father, who grew Pacas at a time when quality was not a priority in the region. After the devastating impact of leaf rust in 2012, he nearly lost hope, but found a new path in specialty coffee. Determined to move forward, he committed fully to quality, guided by a clear belief: if it’s not high-quality coffee, it’s not worth producing. Today, Angelino leads a family-driven project where each member plays a key role, combining farming with a roasting and packaging business. Through dedication and continuous improvement, he has strengthened both his coffee quality and recognition, building a sustainable future rooted in hard work, resilience, and pride in what they produce. Gesha variety An exceptionally high quality variety that has grown in popularity, Gesha is named after the town of Gesha in Ethiopia where the seeds originated. --> Traceability 100% Gesha coffee beans, provided by Caravela and roasted by us on Gadigal land / Sydney.
