What Barrio Collective coffee say

China Alta

Washed Process

Ibagué, Tolima

Colombia

Grown between 1,800–2,000 metres in the rugged hills surrounding China Alta, near Ibagué in Tolima, this washed Lot brings together the work of seven smallholder producers farming an average of just three hectares each. Planted with traditional varieties including Caturra, Colombia and Castillo, the coffee is selectively hand-picked and carefully processed using water from the Río La China, which winds through the valley below.

Coffee is a relatively recent addition to China Alta, where farming once defined the landscape. Today, the region has earned a reputation for producing elegant, high-elevation coffees with remarkable sweetness and complexity. Each producer's harvest is carefully assessed and selected, creating a regional blend that reflects the character of Tolima and the dedication of the families who continue to shape its growing coffee story.

In the cup, we love the balance and structure of the coffee with brightness, dessert like sweetness, distinct stone fruit vibes and just enough floral character. This would suit all brew methods and black or with milk.
